Preqin report suggests that the global alternative investments market could double in size by 2027
Preqin, the leading source of alternative asset data, analytics, and insights has forecasted that the alts market will double in the next five years.
The report outlines how the alternative investments market could double from $9.3 trillion to $18.3 trillion thanks to a growing demand for private capital and low correlation investments.
However, the compound annual growth rate of the alternative investing market is likely to decelerate compared to prior years. From 2015 through 2021, the market expanded yearly by 14.9%. Preqin forecasts that market growth will average 11.9% per year over the next five years.
The paper revealed that both retail investors and institutional investors are allocating a greater proportion of their funds to alternative assets, and that the current moment of economic uncertainty is bolstering this trend.
In some welcome good news, the analysis predicts ongoing growth for asset types that have historically fared well in unpredictable markets, such as engineering, oil reserves, private debt, venture funding, and international macro hedge funds.
